Today would have been the day I posted the last in my series on men, titled, “In Danger From The Outside World.” But, I’ve had to postpone because several events have occurred in the last two weeks that have prompted me to make this announcement:
I am Ann Coulter.
That’s right. She and I are the same person.

My question is this: If you don’t believe me when I say that Ann Coulter and I are one and the same, because we have beige blouses in common, why do we believe Ann Coulter when she claims to be ‘Christian,’ just because she has one thing in common with real Christians, which is, that she believes Jesus Christ is the Lord? After that, she deviates from Christian doctrine remarkably.
One cannot be a Christian “conservatively.” It’s all or nothing. Either one believes Jesus Christ is the Lord and Saviour and follows His Teachings (see Chart II) or one is not really a Christian.
You might ask, why do people say they’re Christians and try to get us to believe it, when they really aren’t Christians? The answer is the “Playground Principle.”
On a playground, it’s always the weakest kid who gets picked on. In order to protect himself, he has to have a tough, intimidating mouth, or another really big kid on his side.
Well, who’s a bigger kid than God?
The idea that we can annihilate all our enemies by invading their countries and/or taking over their governments is such a weak idea that it needs a big mouth and God backing it up, in an attempt to be impressive. That’s what these so-called “Conservative Christians” – I will coin a new term here and call them “Coulter Christians” because it’s much more appropriate – are attempting to do. By telling us that we are “idiots,” or “sick” or “ridiculous” because we see the weakness behind this methodology and by saying they have ‘God’ on their side, they are trying to intimidate us.
It also serves another purpose. Divisionist tactics and power in numbers. If we take Coulter Christians at their word that they really are Christians, we begin to view Christianity itself with disdain. That disparaging attitude puts true Christians everywhere on the defensive. For an example of this, I invite you to read this heartfelt post.
By deriding all Christians, we’re no better than those who hate all Muslims.
How can we tell the difference between ‘true Christians’ and ‘Coulter Christians?’ To quote Jesus of Nazareth again, “by the fruit they bear.”
Here is an example of the fruit that true Christianity bears:

I read this Lass’s blog almost every day, no matter how busy I get, because it’s an inspiration to me. She doesn’t write about world-shaking events, she writes about her life and how much she appreciates it, her children and how devoted she is to them. She writes about trying in all the ways she knows to be a good mother, a good daughter, a productive, loving human being.
IrishLuckyLass has had more than a fair share of trials in her life. But you might be tempted to dismiss them, because no matter what tragic thing has happened to her, she writes about finding, if not some good in it or some lesson to be learned, then at least some humour in it, as though bad fortune came her way so she could turn it into a good story for us all. Her Christianity has not made her bitter, angry or vengeful. Quite the contrary, the worst thing I’ve ever heard her say in her writings about the man she loved who betrayed her and his two remarkably beautiful children with her, is to call him (and I love this) “ass hat.”
When I asked her once how she managed to survive abandonment by her father, then a rape, followed by the desertion of her husband, (and more), she told me, “It’s my faith.”
Oh, but wait – she sometimes votes Republican!
So what?
Coulter Christians are no more true Republicans than they are true Christians.

The very sad fact is that the loud-mouth Christians are the ones who get all the attention and press, and the ones who also have (or had, anyway) enough strength to band together and sway government policy through elections. The real Christians, people like AmyH and Shush Now here on Vox, aren't busy ramming their ideologies down people's throats or even posting about how they heart being Christians. They're just good, kind people living good lives. And the fundamentalist Christians are also the ones who can't see just how closely they resemble the militant fundamentalist Muslims they want to exterminate/defeat/stamp out.
And I wonder, why can't humans just strive to be good people without adding a religious label?

It's something to think about, I agree; it's what came to mind while reading your post. I don't know why being a good person has to be labeled with anything, religious or otherwise. I think that people should strive to be good (realizing that this is a VERY subjective term), regardless of how they choose to believe/worship/whatever. I just don't think it needs to be intertwined with anything else.

Amen! One of my favorite authors was being interviewed by a radio host who said something disparaging about Christianity. The author responded by saying he refused to defend something that means so many different things. You can say I'm a Christian' to 10 different people, and have 10 different ideas of what that means. The author went on to say. I'm not going to defend Christianity, I'm going to tell you that I love Jesus, and am doing my best to live like him in my world. I find I end up with that same sentiment. When people like Ann Coulter can claim the same faith I do, I end up almost apologizing for my faith…going out of my way to say 'I hope that's not what I'm about' so I've just come down to the place of saying…I love Jesus, and I'm going to do my best to live like him in my world. I'm thankful you and Ann are not the same person. I'd have to stop respecting you if you were Ann, and that would make me sad.
No, I don't think it's "bad," I think it's smart. I am not really sure if she actually belives any of what she's saying, but she knows it'll make a buck. She gets more making appaearances than she does writing columns. She also dated one of the sleaziest politcians I've ever had the displeasure to interview. I found it ironic ebcause she talks about Judaism the same way she talks about everything else that's non "Christian" and he was Jewish. They were cut from the same cloth. Anyway, this post is really not totally about her per say, but about the idea of certain people hiding behind "Christianity" to make other people with different opinions than theirs feel bad.

On that subject, it seems that McCain and Obama are our candidates. It was close for a while, but Obama is ahead as of today. As for Ann Coulter, I'm fairly certain it's herself she's backing and no candidate at all. She's bright enough to know all the controversy she stirs up is very lucrative for her. As I just told Grrace, she makes more money from public appearances than from her writings. Even people who don't agree with her love to argue with her. I utilised her here to make a point, but the bottom line is, if we just ignore people like her, they'd have to (to use another playground metaphor) take their toys and go home. Or play by themselves.
I think Obama's message of change will carry the day,and that he will be the next U.S. President. I detect the same sentiment for change in the U.S. as there was here leading up to the last election. People are weary of the rantings of the right, and are moving back to the centre. Right wing shock jocks and columnists here have gone very quiet. The Coulters, O'Reillys and Hannitys time is running out fast. And how very sweet that is…

Oh that was lots of fun But really you look more like Electra (or Nike) than Ann Coulter. Also Ann Coulter could never even come close to the Nazi propaganda machine. She is far too genuine in her absurd beliefs. She is more a modern day Hans Fritzsche. While it is rarely possible to influence adaults with this kind of radical nationalism, children are very susceptible to it. She should be tried for child abuse or inciting racial hatred at the very least. No doubt she has body armour, and she needs it. You're a very poetic, descriptive writer. And I read your comment on my previous post about the Greek community in Australia. That hit home. I lived in a community of Greek Americans when I was married to my Greek national husband. (My background is not Greek. Though there is probably some Greek ancestry because my father was Italian born from Sicily. My mother's parents were also born in Italy. I was born in the US and lived over seas for a number of years)

So apt. I had an aunt who was the most vicious gossip you could imagine. She took absolute pleasure in putting other people down and taught her children to do the same. I was often one of her victims and as a young person, it hurt me, very much, every time. Yet, she'd let everyone know she went to church every Sunday. I just don't get it. I loved going into a place of worship, any place of worship when I was young.There truly seemed to be a Divine wonderful presence there and that presence gave me comfort and hope for the world. I'd leave wanting to be a better person, not a more miserable one.

I look very typically southern Italian. In fact, when I was there a few years back, it was a bit disconcerting to see how many women looked like me. I saw myself coming and going everywhere.
I was married for many years to a Greek national. I lived in Greece with him. Much of my early writing is published under my married name- Patricia Volonakis, so I kept it for professional reasons and because my son was only eleven when I divorced his father. I didn't like the idea of not having the same family name as my child when he was still in school. I wanted the teachers to know whose mother it was attending all those meetings and keeping an annoying eye on things : ) When I remarried to a wonderful man, I didn't like the idea of carrying only my ex's name and not my new husband's, either. So I use both married names for both professional and personal reasons. There are several authors named Patricia Davis, also. There's even a male writer,Patrick Davis. I figure this differentiates me a bit.
Hehe, I actually see more evidence of hypocrites than nice people. (I worked in a mall for almost three years and definitely didn't get the greatest treatment from everyone. The wonders of working foodservice..) You are one of the nice people as well =)
It's funny, but a few of my posts and even some of my comments on other people's blogs have prompted people to send private messages they don't want seen in a public comment on my blog. I have to tell you that the nice comments I receive have so far outnumbered the rotten ones by at leas tfive to one. I just ignore the rotten ones. Yes- food service. I've been there.College tuition had to get paid. To this day I am unfailingly polite to anyone who serves me anything.
Sometimes you can only ignore the bad and focus on the good. Helen Keller once said "Keep your face to the sun and you won't see the shadows"… or something like that. I try to keep that in mind when I get bogged down by negative people.
Heck, yes. Especially because what these people want is the attention, negative or otherwise. So I try to practice your philosophy and I achieve it well…if not all the time, at least most of the time. BTW-

An extremely inspired article, and like yourself, i too believe that there are 'christians' and 'Christians'. But i also do believe in the concept of The Devil, and am of the opinion that if he was really one of the celestials at one time, then we have grossly underestimated his intelligence by thinking that the line dividing the 'christian' and the 'Christian' is one we can easily appreciate by a simple reading of the Bible. I have been troubled by this all my life, and have felt a deep 'calling' as a child. In my journey, ever since 5, I have sought God and The Devil so that i may know the former by Her/is distinction from the latter. And when i truly sought the latter's abode, i found it within myself. That is when i discovered that The Devil is the greatest sociologist, political scientist, philosopher, artist, comedian, psychologist….and uses these arts to beguile us into thinking we're right when we're wrong. Thus, over time, i constructed the formula by which he might be discovered,"The Root of all Evil finds its Incubatory Refuge in All that is Perceived to Be Good". The evil lies in 'Perceived'. My counter claim is that we too as Christians and non-Christians need to stand up against the people who behave like, Ann Coulter, Pat Robertson, John Hagee and others like them, people who are Christian Zionists. These people are trying to cause a collision between the US and the Middle East with Israel as their prize and they are not concerned with who gets hurt along the way. Anyway, I was hoping to post some things on my own blog, but unfortunately at the moment due to my health I haven't the time and the energy. Wow! Heck no – rant away! Not ony that, I am thrilled to hear about the website.I had no idea that there was an actual counter movement to this stuff. What a relief. I'll check it out right away.
I want to reiterate if I may, that the United States is made up of 300 million people. That's a lot of people and we are not a homogenous society either. Ann Coulter is not representative of most of us any more than is Jerry Falwell or for that matter, Code Pink. These people are on the lunatic fringe, but they're loud and they are publicity whores. The rest of us average Americans have no time for their nonsense. We go to work, we care for our families and our communites, we read about other peoples and countries with compassion and interest and we struggle everyday against the same things in our country that you read about. Our health care system needs to be rehauled,(brought to my attention today again by Snowy) our education system needs scrutiny, and we need to come up with ways to outwit our electoral college and our senators who can be in Congress for life(A very bad policy) I think it's true there is an underlying ethnocentricity and a bit of xenophobia now and again, but that is changing with the younger generations here, thanks to the internet. I know my sons are playing poker online with people from all over the world. It sounds like a small silly thing, but it's hard to think of someone as an enemy when you'e been up all night chatting with him whilst playing cards. Same goes for the music industry. Another son, a musician, has 'myspace friends' from everywhere, who love his music.These are just two examples. VOX is a third. Now you know why China tries to censor interaction on the web. Familiarity doesn't breed contempt- it breeds friendliness and understanding.
Well said, Patricia. I have high hopes for world peace through the net, also. And for the reasons taht you state. Sooner or later the world will finally get the message that we are all human beings just wanting to survive as best we can.
Oh, and I should warn you about that Chezza. She is one of the earliest friends I made in the blogosphere. But you should know (in hushed tones), that she has purple hair.

Purple happens to be one of my favourite shades. I don't know if they had grannies like this your way, but my grandmother had a purple tinge to her hair as long as I can remember. She'd go to the hairdressers, they'd tease up her white hair and then put something in it that was supposed to 'tone' the grey. It was purple, no matter that those hairdressers tried to convince us otherwise. Therefore, I'm quite comfortable with it. It makes an impressive statement, don't you agree, Chezz? ; D
Yes a very impressive statement, although my purple is not the purple/blue rinse granny kind.Actually I am one of those 'unfortunates' who goes grey early in life, it runs very strongly in my family. My Nanna, my Mum, myself and my two brothers all succumbed. At the age of 41, I would be salt and pepper at the moment. My Mum was virtually white at my age. Actually I read it is now sexy to be grey – hmmmm I wonder? Anyway I decided I would go grey gracefully and just accept it and I did until I turned 40 and I always said if I ever dyed my hair it would not be 'normal' and I guess it isn't. It would actually look normal if I didn't have grey hair, but because I do have grey hair the purple stands out very well. Nice and bright. I did have to tone it down for my son's wedding though ;-)So anyway just so we stay on topic, I guess my purple hair means I am NOT Ann Coulter – what a shame ;-P

I live in Marin County. Not too far from San Francisco, where purple hair, bright purple, is as common as pink, or green, or brunette. So it wouldn't shock me much and on some, it's really quite attractive. To stay on topic, as you point out, if Ann were out here in seriously liberal territory, 'Code Pink,' another sort of group who doesn't help our overseas image much, would probably have her lynched. She's wise to stay out of this part of the Golden State. ; )

So I am glad you asked.Well I am a liberal, something I didn't realise until coming to Vox – Yes I needed to be told! We don't really make that big a deal about it over here in Oz.Anyway I did a poll/quiz just to make sure I was a liberal, because well they could have been lying to me for all I knew. The results came back that in most areas yes I was a liberal, but overall I was 75% liberal and 25% conservative. I know terrible I was shattered – I was partly conservative, well who would have thought given the 'treatment' I had been given because I WAS a liberal. Well actually it wasn't a surprise to me that I was partly conservative, because as you will be aware generally most of us are along a spectrum in our views.I am so sick of people being judged purely based on being a liberal, the way some people carry on it is as if anyone with the slightest hint of being a bit liberal is automatically put in the category of "Code Pink". Also it is used as an argument tool, "Oh yes but those are liberal views" and they believe that is a valid means of debate, as if it is a 'fact' and they don't need to supply any real facts to support their argument. Huh?Also apparently being a liberal automatically makes a person a communist????? Also liberals have some hidden agenda where we are indoctrinating Americans with a vision of turning it into a communist state! As if that would ever happen! Where does this 'rational' line of thinking come from. Well apparently because 'we' would like evolution to be taught in science classes. Also many universities tend to be a bit liberal/left leaning – wow shock horror, is this a new phenomena? I don't think so – rather normal actually and it has been that way from at least the 1960s onwards and probably before. The problem is in my humble opinion, some people have swung so far to the right that anything even centre in the political spectrum now looks as if it has leftist leanings.So that is my rant for the night. Well, that's partly what this post is about, too. Calling someone a 'liberal' or a 'Christian' with disdain is an attack on the person rather than on the specific argument . I once had a discussion with a young man about the welfare programme here. I said it needed an overhaul. He's comment was, 'that's a white person's perspective.' (he was also white.) Can you imagine? So any comment or perspective I have on any issues regarding would have to be measured differently simply because I'm white or female, or ______ fill in the blank. As for your percentages – you should be proud of yourself that you consider each issue to the point that you can't be pidgeonholed into one category or another. I once had a close friend jokingly tell me "I can't figure out if yo're a facist or a bleeding-heart liberal." I took it as a compliment, because what it means is that we don't let any particular group be our mouthpieces. We're thinking for ourselves. Anyway, I'm coming over to read your post re: the apology because I've been following that subject. I bet you've written something interesting. See you there.

I'd like to say that I am not a Christian, but I know exactly what you mean about putting Christians on the defensive. I mean, lately, I have been appalled at the bigotry of certain, extremist types (if you can use "Coulter Christians" can I use "Dawkins atheists" or "Hitchens atheists"?) on the left. I don't much care for bigotry, whatever label it's hiding behind, and I really dislike the tones of moral superiority adopted by both sides. I don't think you can fight hate with hate, so I am so happy to see this post.

I think it's appropriate here to say, "Amen" to that! What all of us have not yet realised is that by our own voluntary divisiveness- be it Christians and athiests on opposite sides or liberals and conservatives, the politicians are pulling the wool over our eyes, all sides, all colours, all sexes, all shapes, while we're sniping at each other. They've discovered this giant red herring that's kept us all occupied for the last two presidencies, here in the US at least. In the meantime the country is in turmoil and we too busy fighting with each other, being 'morally superior; as you say, to see it.

My problem with all Xtians is exactly what you said…if you call yourself that then you should supposedly act as Jesus prescribed.
